Abstract:
Multilayer MINs have emerged mainly due to the increased need for routing capacity in the presence of multicast and broadcast traffic, their performance prediction and evaluation however has not been studied sufficiently insofar. In this paper, we use simulation to evaluate the performance of multilayer MINs with switching elements of different buffer sizes and under different offered loads. The findings of this
paper can be used by MIN designers to optimally configure their networks.
